Parking permits for people with disabilities

We issue parking permits to residents living with a disability as part of the Disabled Person's Parking Scheme that operates in Victoria.
Types of Permits
There are 2 types of Disabled Person's Parking permits available, issued according to the applicant's needs and abilities:
- Permit holders with significant disabilities who meet the eligibility criteria are entitled to park a vehicle in bays reserved for people with a disability for the specified time only or in any ordinary bay for twice the specified time.
- Permit holders requiring rest breaks when walking may park a vehicle in any ordinary bay only but for twice the specified time.

Applying for a Permit
To apply for a permit:
- complete questions 1 to 8 of the Disabled Persons Parking Permit Application (download below). Note: must be completed by you or your agent
- ask your medical practitioner to complete the application form
- return the form to any of our Customer and Library Service Centres; or
- return the form to Mitchell Shire Council
Permit Renewals
Parking permits are not automatically renewed after the expiry date.
Before your permit expires, you will need to submit a new application form.
To renew a permit:
- complete questions 1 to 8 of the Disabled Persons Parking Permit Application (download above). Note: must be completed by you or your agent
- ask your medical practitioner to complete the application form
- return the form to any of our Customer and Library Service Centres; or
- return the form to Mitchell Shire Council
Damaged Permits
If your parking permit has become damaged, you can still use it as long as the permit number and expiry date are still readable.
If a replacement permit is required:
- forfeit the damaged parking permit at any of our Customer and Library Service Centres
- a replacement parking permit will be issued with the same expiry date and number
Please note that a replacement fee may be applicable.
Lost or Stolen Permits
To replace a lost or stolen parking permit:
- complete and sign a statutory declaration
- return in person at any of our Customer and Library Service Centres; or
- return to Mitchell Shire Council

Organisation Disability Permits
Organisations that provide transport services to people living with a disability, and which meet the eligibility requirements, are required to complete a separate application form. Eligible organisations will receive a permit for 12 months.
To apply for organisation disability permits:
- complete the Organisational Disabled Persons Parking Permit Application (download below)
- return the form to any of our Customer and Library Service Centres; or
- return the form to Mitchell Shire Council
