RATES NOTICE TIPPING VOUCHERS

Instead of a hard waste collection, all rateable properties receive three tipping vouchers for use at one of our Resource Recovery Centres. The vouchers expire on 30 September each year.

Vouchers can be taken to one of our Resource Recovery Centres where our operators will assess your load based on our standard resident/ratepayers fees and charges. If the value of your load exceeds the value of your tip ticket an additional payment will be required.

We reserve the right to refuse loads if they contain hazardous materials and/or are in excess of 4m³.

Terms and Conditions

  • Only original vouchers will be accepted (no photocopies)
  • Proof of ID  (driver licence or rates notice showing your property address in Mitchell Shire) may be requested
  • Vouchers are not transferable for cash
  • Vouchers cannot be redeemed or used for payment of any other Council account
  • Vouchers will not be replaced if lost or destroyed
  • Vouchers must not be resold or transferred
  • Any waste loads in excess of the voucher value shall be charged the applicable fee difference

GREEN WASTE AND MULCH

We can accept tree trimmings, bushes and other garden waste at our resource recovery centres. Please ensure your garden waste is free from contamination such as garbage, wire, metals, etc. Collected garden waste is stored at the relevant sites and ground into a coarse mulch that is available for free to residents.

fire ready - free GREEN WASTE DROP OFF 2017

To help reduce fuel around your property, we will be accepting green waste free of charge at the Broadford, Pyalong, Seymour and WallanResource Recovery Centres on weekends in November.

If you live in Mitchell Shire, please bring your Driver Licence with your current address. If you own property in Mitchell but live outside of the municipality, please bring your current rates notice and photographic ID with the same address.

Natural wood and tree branches (under 300mm diameter) and grass clippings will need to be sorted from non- green waste items before arrival and  green waste must be free of declared noxious weeds, so it can be re-used as mulch. Any loads containing items other than green waste will be charged accordingly.

The weekend drop-off times help us to manage the large volumes of green waste that come in at this time of year and enable us to mulch and transport during the week which reduces the fire risk of large stockpiles of green waste or mulched material. Please be patient during this busy period.

Want to find out why we are doing a free Green Waste Drop Off on weekends? Visit our Green Waste Drop Off FAQ page.

eWASTE

E-waste is a term used to describe unwanted electronic goods such as computers, televisions and DVD players. By recycling e-waste, 98% of the materials are recovered and recycled to be used in the manufacturing of new products. E-waste can be deposited at all of Council’s Resource Recovery Centres for recycling at no cost.
