Host the Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony
Each year we hold citizenship ceremonies to welcome new citizens and acknowledge the work in our community of individuals and organisations.
In 2020, the Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony will be held in Pyalong.
Nominations — 2021 Australia Day host
Applications to host the 2021 Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony are now open.
Complete your expression of interest form by Monday 23 September 2019.
Applications will be considered by Council at a future scheduled Council meeting.
All Expression of Interest applications lodged with Council will become documents available for public inspection in accordance with the Local Government Act 1989.
For all Australia Day events in Mitchell Shire, Council will, upon request, provide small Australian flags, buntings and copies of the program for the day.
The Mitchell Shire Council Awards and Citizenship Ceremony is a ‘stand-alone’ event administered by Mitchell Shire Council staff.
Council will organise the Awards and Citizenship Ceremony, including guest invitations, certificates, speakers and gifts for new citizens.
The host town is requested to provide a shade marquee, chairs, trestle tables and sound system.
A band/singer will be organised by Council. Council does not provide any financial assistance for this event, however, will cover the cost of hire for a shade marquee, chairs and trestle tables.
Events will only be considered if they are held on Council owned or managed land.
Preference will be given to locations that have not held an event recently.
