Services provided by Mitchell Shire Council ensure all new and existing buildings, roads and community infrastructure meet Local, State and National standards. Council is also responsible for issuing permits, maintaining and improving Council owned community assets.
Council also ensures that public and environmental health services are delivered through a range of programs and activities. It is also responsible for implementing appropriate land use planning through the Mitchell Planning Scheme, which protects the unique character of our townships and settlements.
Along with State and Commonwealth grants, Council also collects property rates and charges enabling it to deliver services to the community.
