Land in the Urban Growth Boundary

Mitchell Shire – growth area

Mitchell Shire is an identified metropolitan growth area with a significant amount of land within the Urban Growth Boundary.

Council works with the State Government to plan and coordinate these new growth areas to plan for new residential areas and activity centres, as well as ensuring land is available to create employment opportunities within the Shire.

Victorian Planning Authority

The Victorian Planning Authority is an independent statutory body which reports to the Minister for Planning. They have a broad, facilitative role to help create greater certainty, faster decisions and better coordination for all parties involved in planning and development of Melbourne's growth areas.

The Victorian Planning Authority works in partnership with Council's developers and the State Government to achieve master planned development outcomes within the growth areas of Melbourne.
