Request a certificate of title

A current certificate of title is required for both planning and building applications. A certificate of title confirms the ownership details, location and dimensions of the land and any restrictions affecting the type of development allowable on the land.

Your certificate of title should be obtained no more than 3 months prior to submitting your application.

Council can carry out title searches on your behalf for the cost of the title documents, plus an administrative fee of $55 (inc GST). However, you can also apply for a certificate of title directly to LANDATA yourself.

Request a certificate of title through Council

Step 1

Download and complete the Request for Title Search Form.

Step 2

Return the form to any of our Customer and Library Service Centres or the Wallan Planning and Building Services Office and pay the relevant fees in person; or email it to mitchell@mitchellshire.vic.gov.au and an officer will call you to take payment over the phone.

Step 3

Council will search for the relevant documents and provide you with a copy if they are available.
