Located in the south of the Mitchell Shire is the rapidly growing town of Wallan. History and Heritage
Historically, Wallan was a rural village that travellers passed through on their journey north up the Hume Highway. The township was used as a rest stop for travellers before their climb up Pretty Sally Hill and across the Great Dividing Range.
Today you can visit the Wallan Free Library and Mechanics' Institute Hall which sits proudly in the centre of the town. The building that hosts both attractions was establish in 1877 and is of historical significance. The original building has undergone a number of extensions over the years and is still used by the local community today.

The township of Wallan offers a range of recreational activities. One of Wallan's key attractions is Hadfield Park, which is located in the centre of town. This park offers a range of facilities and home to the Community Bank® Adventure Playground. This unique adventure playground includes a 5-story tower and a fully accessible water splash park.
Also hosted in Hadfield Park is the Wallan Olde Time Market. The market runs on the second Saturday of each month. It is an extremely popular market that offers a wide range of stalls from arts and crafts, produce, plants and more. When visiting the market, make sure you the opportunity to explore the town and many local cafes on offer.
