Business Mentoring and Training

Throughout the year, Mitchell Shire Council offers a range of business training workshops and fully confidential mentoring programs.

Small business mentoring sessions

Whether you're in start-up mode, or are running an established business, a mentor can help you refine your business strategy, map out the direction that your business should be taking and assist in setting goals for your business to succeed.

Small Business Mentoring Clinics (SBMC) are held regularly throughout the shire, across varying locations.

Small Business Bus

The Victorian Government's Small Business Bus provides free mentoring and face-to-face assistance to help you start or build your small business.

Operated by Small Business Victoria, the Small Business Bus visits Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Seymour - Thursday 22 June
The bus will be parked opposite Commonwealth Bank, 76 Station St, Seymour.


The Small Business Bus is free. However spaces do fill up quickly.

Strategic Advice and Mentoring

The Business Development Plan - Mentoring aims to provide experienced strategic advice to a board and/or CEO. Primarily, mentoring assists businesses in the implementation of a complex business plan.  Potential grant funding is 50% of total project cost up to $7,500.

Energy Assessment Grants - Sustainability Vic

The Boosting Productivity energy assessment grants program is open to small and medium sized businesses with less than 200 full time employees spending over $20,000 a year on energy.

An energy assessment will identify potential efficiency improvements for your business, review pricing tariffs and suitable renewable energy options.

Two grant are available to cover 50% of the cost of an energy assessment at your business site. A $3,000 implementation bonus is also available for businesses that carry out one or more assessment recommendations.
