Book a sporting reserve
If your club or team need a place to train, host a competition season or for an occasional event, you will need to make a booking.
Apply to book a Council-run Sporting Facility
Casual bookings
This includes pre-season training sessions, finals, casual and event bookings.
To apply for use of a facility you need to:
- complete the Casual Use Sportsground Application Form (download below)
- return in person at one of our Customer and Library Service Centres; or
- return the document to Mitchell Shire Council
Our recreation officer will assess your application and notify you of the outcome.
You will be asked to agree to the Sportsground Hire Terms and Conditions of Use (available below).
Season Bookings
To book a sporting facility for a set period of competition where teams play against each other on a home and away basis, you will need to observe the Mitchell seasons of:
- Summer season — 1 October to 28/29 February
- Winter season — 1 April to 31 August
To apply for use of a facility you need to:
- complete the Seasonal Application Form (download below)
- return in person at at of our Customer and Library Service Centres; or
- return the document to Mitchell Shire Council
Our Recreation officer will assess your application and notify you of the outcome.

Booking a Sports Reserve Managed by Committee
Other local reserves are managed by committees of management. To make a booking contact the relevant committee.
Commercial Health and Fitness Providers
If you are a personal trainer or commercial fitness provider, you will need to complete two applications — a Commercial Health and Fitness Provider Application and a General Local Laws Permit Application.
How to apply
- complete a Commercial Health and Fitness Provider Application form
- complete a General Local Laws Permit Application form (select 'other' as the permit type)
- supply proof of the following documents:
- Certificate of Currency of Public Liability Insurance (minimum $20M)
- Personal or group trainer registration for all trainers who will be using the venue
- Certificate of Professional Indemnity Insurance
- Registration with Fitness Australia or Physical Activity Australia
- Sketch plan of the location of item/activity
- return the documents in person at of our Customer and Library Service Centres; or
- return the document to Mitchell Shire Council
If your booking is confirmed you will need to:
- pay the relevant per hour or annual fee
- meet the requirements that are explained in Commercial Health and Fitness Provider Application below
