Rethink Recycling: Virtual tour of MRF facility

Is it time to rethink what you know about recycling?

Join us online to take a peek at what happens to your recycling after the truck picks it up from the kerbside, and learn what you can do locally to make a difference. We're sure you'll never see your recycling bin the same way again.

This is a free event, but registrations are essential.

We'll be running 4 different tours, so you're sure to find a time and date to suit you:

• Friday 18 March: 11am
• Tuesday 24 May: 4pm
• Saturday 20 August: 10am
• Thursday 10 November: 7pm

Each event is 1 hour and 15 minutes, with lots of question time during the tour and at the end.

The presentation shows how a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) separates your recycling into material types ready for reprocessing, and you’ll also learn about the dos and don'ts of recycling and even the how's and why's.

We will virtually step inside the MRF, where you will see all the action. There's a series of conveyor belts, material-specific machines, massive trommels and hard-working manual sorters who make light work of separating your co-mingled recycling ready to go back into the circular economy.

You will also be able to ask the experts any burning questions that you have.
