Mitchell Heritage Advisory Committee

Mitchell Heritage Advisory Committee aims to tap into community members' knowledge, skills and experiences to provide Council with strategic advice, recommendations and promotion of heritage in Mitchell Shire.

Aims of the committee

  • Provide strategic advice on the municipality's natural, built and cultural heritage matters.
  • Provide advice on policy to ensure that heritage related matters are given due consideration.
  • Provide input into strategic heritage related projects (e.g. heritage studies and policy development).
  • Promote heritage conservation and awareness within the municipality.

Membership

  • a Mitchell Shire Councillor (who will act as Chair)
  • members of Council's Strategic Planning Team
  • Council's Municipal Heritage Advisor
  • committee members from each of the following member organisations (more than one member from each organisation is welcome to attend the meeting, but only one member has voting power):
    • Broadford and District Historical Society
    • Kilmore Historical Society
    • Seymour Historical Society
    • Wandong History Group
  • representatives from the Taungurung Land and Waters Council (TLaWC) and Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation
  • members of the community who are not affiliated with any heritage association (typically up to 6)

Meeting frequency

The Heritage Advisory Committee meets once every 2 months. Generally, the third Wednesday of every second month.
