Youth Fest wrap up
This year Mitchell Youth Services participated in the state government initiative 'Youth Fest'. Youth Fest is an opportunity to celebrate young people by supporting them to organise and deliver events that showcase their talents and contributions to the community.
Mitchell Youth Services delivered a range of events, training, workshops and celebrations in partnership with other local organisations for young people connected to Mitchell Shire. Thank you to all our partners.
HLTAID011 First Aid and CPR training sessions
Mitchell Youth Services offered vouchers valued at $135 to 30 young people with a connection to Mitchell Shire. These vouchers enabled young people access to an accredited training session that was local and free of charge.

Wallan Primary School Visit
Mitchell Youth Services hosted a ‘Youth Room Orientation’ for 4 different classes of Grade 6 students from Wallan PS at the Wallan Youth Room. The students learnt about our programs, services and events through a visual presentation and got a tour of youth room by playing a scavenger hunt style game. In small groups students got a taste of the daily operations by taking turns to compete at air hockey, foosball, Uno and more.
Barista for Beginners
Mitchell Youth Services partnered with PRACE to design a taster style workshop for young people interested in working in the hospitality industry. Participants learnt the basics of coffee making and hospitality service and experienced hands on training in a mock cafe environment. The workshop was held over 2 days.
Young people became increasingly more confident with their coffee skills and did a fantastic job putting these into practice by serving coffee to the Senior’s group.
One young person is going to go onto complete an intensive certificate in Barista training with placement component through PRACE. Mitchell Youth Services is organising to run the workshop again in 2023, keep an eye on our socials to secure your place when registrations open.
In partnership with Wallan Gateway Youth, Mitchell Youth Services put on a day of activities for young people. Young people were split in to 2 teams, competing against each other in a series of challenges.
Activities included a giant inflatable, slip and slide, games and a lunchtime spread.
