Signing on to extra support for small businesses in Mitchell Shire
Small businesses in Mitchell Shire will receive more support under a new initiative between the Victorian Small Business Commission (VSBC), Mitchell Business Network (MBN) and Mitchell Shire Council.
Mitchell Shire Council is officially a Small Business Friendly Council after signing a Small Business Charter this week.
The charter covers six areas including managing impacts to businesses from infrastructure works, paying small businesses promptly and nurturing small business networks and resources.
The pledge builds on existing tailored support from Council to more than 2,300 small businesses in the shire.
Council’s Economic Development Unit currently provides guidance for start-ups and entrepreneurs, digital marketing upskilling and a business concierge service to help businesses navigate complex permit applications.
Mitchell Shire Council is also about to commence the Better Approvals Project to review the way permit applications can be progressed across the organisation.
The Charter was signed in Wallan by Victorian Small Business Commissioner Judy O’Connell, Victorian Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green MP, Mitchell Shire Council Mayor Councillor David Lowe, Mitchell Shire Council Acting CEO Mary Agostino and Mitchell Business Network Co-Chair Darren Knight.
