Scrub up on your waste knowledge

Mitchell Shire Council's waste education team had planned to run some waste education events for their young residents these school holidays, but due to COVID-19 these have been postponed until the April school holidays.

However in the meantime, here are some handy resources from the team to help kids learn all things waste these holidays:

Planet Ark website

Planet Ark’s website contains a treasure trove of activity sheets that are ready to print off and tackle, including crosswords, mazes and colouring sheets to help kids learn about waste and recycling.

Plastic Oceans

This website includes a short film and fantastic online educational resources to teach kids about plastic pollution and what they can do to avoid waste and help save the oceans.

War on Waste

Visit the ABC’s War on Waste page for 25 online resources including fun quizzes, games and online learning programs neatly labelled for all ages.

Love food, hate waste?

Hate food waste? Jump in the kitchen and get cooking with some unusual ingredients that you thought were waste with these Love Food, Hate Waste recipes.

Dirt Girl World

If you haven't already discovered Dirt Girl World on the ABC, then there is no better time than now. You can find colouring sheets, craft tutorials and videos to help kids celebrate life outside.
