Rural Land and Activities Review underway

Mitchell Shire’s rural areas present unique opportunities and challenges which will require appropriate strategies to ensure ongoing sustainable use in the future, so we're currently undertaking a Rural Land and Activities Review.

We've prepared an Issues and Opportunities Paper to inform the preparation of a Rural Land and Activities Review, which will provide policy for the future use and development of rural land within the Shire, most of which is within the Farming Zone.

The Review will include a high-level review of some of the smaller townships of Mitchell to inform future strategic work.

The Review includes all privately-owned rural land within the Shire and its small townships. The study area does not include:

  • land within the township boundaries of Seymour, Kilmore, Broadford, Wallan, Wandong-Heathcote Junction and Hidden Valley
  • land within the Urban Growth Boundary
  • public land including Puckapunyal Military Base and National and State Parks.

You can have your say online, pick up a hard copy survey at one of our Customer and Library Service Centres, or come along to one of our drop-in sessions in Tooborac, Pyalong, Tallarook, Clonbinane, and Reedy Creek.
