Roadworks starting on Spur Road today

People driving along Spur Road in Clonbinane will need to allow extra travel time over the next few weeks with roadworks between Ryans Road and Macdonalds Road starting today (15 October).

The works were prioritised following community concerns regarding the ongoing deterioration of the road.

Mitchell Shire Mayor Councillor Rhonda Sanderson said roads were a major focus in Council’s budget with extra road funding added in this year’s budget for road improvements.

“Our community has very clearly said they want council to spend more on roads. This council has worked very hard to free up funding to do this across our sealed and unsealed road network in both our urban and rural areas.

“The Spur Road work is an important project on a road that is used by local residents, school buses, logging trucks and people who visit Mt Disappointment.

“I’d like to thank the community for their patience while the works are underway. I would also encourage everyone to slow down through the work zone and follow traffic management directions.”

The road pavement works follow guardrail replacement along Spur Road earlier in the year.

The works are expected to take two to three weeks from Monday 15 October with traffic down to one lane. Traffic management will be on site.
