Pop-up Recording Studios in town

Recording studio established in shire

Some of the Mitchell Shire’s most talented artists are busy recording their original work at the Mitchell Youth Services’ Pop-Up Recording Studios in Wallan and Seymour.

The programme gives some of the best and brightest musicians in the Mitchell Shire a chance to record their music, their way before each track is shared with Universal Music Group – an opportunity which could open doors for local talent.

Residents aged between 12 and 24 were given the chance to excel in their craft without stress as drums, keys, bass and electric guitars were all provided.

Montville Lane Sessions Pop-Up Recording Studio helped provide the equipment with professional producer and engineer David Blake working directly with the artists.

“This is mind-blowing what we can do with just a couple of people and a few instruments. I have learnt so much here and it is pretty cool.”

Mitchell Shire Mayor Councillor Bill Chisholm said the recording studios were a great way to allow young residents a chance to further their careers.

“I would like to thank Montville Lane Sessions for setting up the pop-up recording studio, our Mitchell Shire Youth Services workers for their hard work on this project and the many talented artists who joined in on the fun,” he said.

“We have so much talent through the Mitchell Shire and we are pleased to help foster their development in a meaningful way.

“We are pleased to be able to provide this programme for our talented musicians to thrive in the Australian music scene. I can’t wait to hear more.”

“The pop-up studio is a full offering, so artists can come in, as if they were on stage, and record their music. It is all ready to roll for artists to come in and hit the ground running,” he said.

“It is great for the inspiration of the musicians to come in, in a comfortable setting, and have a go. The talent here is amazing, the virtuosity is incredible, and the level of song writing is brilliant. The feedback we have got from Universal Music has been positive.”

Taking part in the program, Mitchell Shire’s Jas, 15, said it was a great experience.

“This has been so fun, and I have enjoyed being able to play. I love music, and this has inspired me. I have never worked in a studio before, but I have been able to just play and have a good time.” His bandmate, Mitchell Shire’s Andrew, 16, said it was great to immerse himself into the industry.

“This is mind-blowing what we can do with just a couple of people and a few instruments. I have learnt so much here and it is pretty cool.”

The Mitchell Shire’s Pop-Up Recording Studio was held in Wallan this week and will be held in Seymour from Monday 14 January until Friday 18 January.
