More time to nominate for Australia Day awards

It is time to recognise some of the community’s unsung leaders and achievers through the annual Mitchell Shire Council Australia Day Awards Ceremony.

The next group of award recipients will be announced during a service at the Australia Day ceremony in Pyalong on Sunday 26 January 2020.

Applications are now open until Monday 18 November 2019.

Mitchell Shire Council is on the lookout for the next:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Access and Inclusion Champion
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Community Group of the Year
  • Community Event of the Year

The 2020 leaders and achievers in Mitchell Shire will join a growing list of local heroes. The nominees for each award are based on community submissions and are then recommended to Council by the Australia Day Committee.

Quotes attributable to Mitchell Shire Mayor Councillor Bill Chisholm

“One of the best aspects of this event is community helping community. The Australia Day awards ceremony makes me very proud to be a member of Mitchell Shire,” he said.

“We have celebrated some fantastic leaders and achievers over the years. There are countless unsung heroes in our community and to be able to highlight five each year is brilliant.”
