Community invited to federal election advocacy campaign launch
Mitchell Shire Council will unveil a Federal election advocacy campaign on 3 April, with community members invited to join in and show their support.
Access to local mental health services and funding for the completion of the freeway ramps in Wallan are priority issues in Mitchell Shire.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Councillor Bill Chisholm said the campaign would focus on two federally funded issues which would have an impact right across the municipality.
“We are calling on the community to show their support as we look to shine a light on the issues facing the municipality ahead of the Federal election,” he said.
“Our community regularly share their concerns about freeway safety and congestion and the availability of local mental health services.
“Both of these issues require federal funding, so we’ve developed a campaign to help our community show all candidates that these issues matter to them.”
Cr Chisholm said working together was important to send a clear message about the importance of these issues.
“We want to see as many people at the launch as possible to show their support and add their voice to this campaign.”
The campaign launch will be held at 4pm on Wednesday 3 April at the new Wallan Town Heart Plaza in High Street. All welcome.
Community members can also visit www.fightformitchellshire.com.au after the launch to see how else they can get involved.
Mitchell Shire Council covers three Federal electorates - McEwen, Nicholls and Bendigo.

The Federal Election is looming, and we're calling on the community to join us in making our voices heard on mental health services and the critical need for a diamond interchange to link Wallan and Hume Freeway. We need the community to join us in sending the candidates a strong message that these issues matter. Let’s make a stand together.
