Kilmore pool to return in 2019
Works are underway to fix the Kilmore Leisure Centre’s pool roof, with materials recently arriving on site as the steel is being prepared and painted.
Scaffolding and safety barriers are in place, ready for when the roof will be raised.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, it is expected the project will be completed early in the year, hopefully in line with the commencement of the first swim school term.
The improvements will include the removal of the central pool hall skylight, steel supports and the new roof.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Councillor Bill Chisholm said he was looking forward to the Kilmore Leisure Centre pool being available for community use soon.
“I, and my fellow Councillors, would like to thank the families and other pool users who have taken up the offer of using the Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre. While it is not an ideal situation, we are working hard to be able to return to Kilmore in 2019,” he said.
“There has been a lot of working going on behind the scenes to get the pool ready. It’s reassuring to see the steel arrive so we can start to see more works on the ground.
“The closures have been inconvenient, but the safety of pool users and staff is of paramount importance to us.
“I would like to thank the community for their patience during this time.”
Mitchell Shire would like to remind residents that the VICSWIM vacation learn to swim program will be available at Broadford Outdoor Pool, Seymour War Memorial Outdoor Pool and Tallarook Outdoor Pool and this summer.
The outdoor pool season officially commenced on 1 December.
