Discover Seymour and Surrounds

DurationBest time to visit
1-2 daysSpring, summer, early autumn

With a historic township, stirring mountain scenery, and renowned gourmet food and wine, come visit Seymour for a day trip, but we guarantee you will want to stay longer to fully experience Seymour's country charm and authentic hospitality.

It is undeniably the greatest pleasures of old-school traveling: to soak up the character of a town on foot. In Seymour, there is no better place to start your explorations than Station Street. Pick up a warm cup of coffee from one of the many cafes along Seymour’s main shopping and dining strip and continue walking north. Our top picks? The Brewer’s Table or Café 96!

Cup in hand, take a leisurely stroll along the underpass and enjoy the amazing new artwork. A must-go to spruce up your Instagram! Remember to pick up a few goodies for your picnic basket from the cute shops and boutiques around. Stop into Wine X Sam or the local IGA to buy some local wine to enjoy in the evening. Then head off to explore the rest of Seymour.

Whilst in Seymour you must check out the rich military history. The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk is just a stroll away from the town center. The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk is the only one of its kind in Australia dedicated to all Vietnam Veterans. Opened in March 2013, the Wall includes the names of all Australian veterans who served in the Vietnam War and a photographic timeline, making it a really significant reminder of Australia's proud history.

Seymour is also located on the banks of the Goulburn River, one of the best kept secrets of Mitchell. Find the perfect tree, set up your picnic under its shade and enjoy the serenity our town has to offer, before you slowly start making your way back to Melbourne’s hustle and bustle.
