Competition to share the love for Mitchell

A competition to share the love for Mitchell is helping to keep spirits high and support businesses amid stage 3 COVID-19 restrictions.

Launched this week, the MyMitchell MyHome competition allows locals to share the love by telling us about the businesses they love or miss during this time, and by shining a light on some of the great attractions and hidden gems within Mitchell.

Aimed at local social media users, the competition will run for three weeks on the Discover Mitchell Instagram and Facebook pages with challenge prompts released regularly.

People who take part in each challenge prompt will be in the running for a specially curated Discover Mitchell hamper featuring local supplies, picnic ware and more worth more than $100.

The local recommendations will also be used to help develop a tourism campaign when visitors can return to Mitchell.

The competition is open to Mitchell Shire residents. Terms and conditions apply and are available on Council’s website. For more visit the Discover Mitchell Facebook or Instagram pages.

For anyone not on social media, you can still enter the competition by emailing

“Supporting our local businesses will be a key to our recovery and this competition is also an important part of that process by showing locals what is available and using that local knowledge to help people from other parts of Victoria to discover what Mitchell is has to offer.”
Quotes by Mitchell Shire Mayor Councillor David Lowe

“It has been a tough time for our community and for businesses during the pandemic,” he said.

“We hope this competition will bring joy and a sense of fun to the locals who are stuck at home as we start to look forward to being soon able to get out more soon."
