Budding social media experts emerge after workshop in Beveridge

Last weekend, twenty, small businesses attended our Get Some Loving, Social Media & Photography Workshop. The workshop was hosted as a trial event at the Greater Beveridge Community Centre, but will be rolled out to more locations in the shire.

The workshop was designed to inspire business owners to be creative and learn strategies to better connect with their customers.

Sam Hicks, a business development, marketing, and photography expert, presented the workshop in three parts.

Part 1: Social media basics

The early part of the morning was spent on learning the basics of social media photography:

  • lighting
  • colour
  • composition
  • staging.

Sam demonstrated how anyone can achieve these elements with a quality smartphone, using filters and editing features.

Part 2: Social media photography setup

The setup part of the day included practical work and discussion:

  • backdrop
  • props
  • lighting
  • business idea sharing and collaboration.

Part 3: Theory and strategy

The theory and strategy part of the day included:

  • caption writing
  • hashtag tactics
  • payment platforms
  • discussion on social media challenges.

Carly from Bezzy Eldo, Seymour, shared her experience on using a proprietary EFTPOS payment system for taking payments.
