Broadford Structure Plan Community Liaison Group

Mitchell Shire Council is looking for community members to help guide a plan about the long-term future of Broadford.Council is in the early stages of developing the Broadford Structure Plan – a comprehensive document that will shape the future look and feel of the town, will guide growth and development, while also ensuring the preservation of the township’s character. To get started, Council is looking for residents to form part of a Community Liaison Group. The group will play an important role in representing community views at key milestones in the preparation of the structure plan and will provide a connection back to the community. Council is looking for members to represent the community in sport, recreation and open space; transport; natural environment; heritage; business, commerce and industry; community and health; education and youth. Mitchell Shire Mayor Rhonda Sanderson said the plan would set out a clear direction for the future vision of Broadford. "The beginning of this process marks a really important and exciting time for the Broadford community,” Cr Sanderson said. “It is important we create the Broadford Structure Plan, in conjunction with our community, to ensure Broadford is best placed to cater for future growth, attract more jobs and quality services, and plan for new residents. “We’re keen to hear from a wide range of enthusiastic and passionate residents to join the Community Liaison Group, which will play a vital role in developing this plan and will be a key contact with the wider community.”The Broadford Structure Plan is the latest structure plan developed by Council following Wallan, Kilmore, Wandong/Heathcote Junction, Beveridge and Seymour. For more information on the Community Liaison Group or the Broadford Structure Plan, go to our Engaging Mitchell website or visit one of Council’s Customer and Library Service Centres. Nomination forms will be accepted until Monday 30 April 2018.
