Australia Day bonanza

Plenty on offer this Australia Day

There is plenty on offer this Australia Day through the Mitchell Shire.

The official awards ceremony and citizenship ceremony will be held at Kings Park, Seymour, with the festivities kicking off at 11am.

The awards being handed out are:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Community Event of the Year
  • Community Group of the Year
  • Access and Inclusion Champion Award

While Seymour's Kings Park will play host to the ceremonies, there are plenty of other events on offer through the shire.

There's the Australia Day community events in Broadford, Kilmore, Pyalong, Seymour, Wallan and Wandong.

The final Summer Session will be held at the Seymour War Memorial Outdoor Pool, where there'll be live music, food trucks, a pool inflatable, giant games, and competitions. Entry is free for members and season pass holders, and $4 for casuals.

A Youth event will be held at the Broadford Skate Park between 7.30am and 3pm.

On Monday (Australia Day Public Holiday), there is free entry to all of the Shire's outdoor pools, which are located in Broadford, Seymour and Tallarook.
