2022 Landcare Week

Landcare Week is an annual celebration of landcare during the first week of August that acknowledges the Australians who are actively restoring, enhancing and protecting the natural environment in their community.

Mitchell Shire is fortunate to have may local landcare groups that work to protect and enhance our natural environment and care for our natural resources. Landcare activities include weed and pest animal control, revegetation, erosion control, biodiversity enhancement and pasture improvement.

You can find your local landcare group on Councils website.

If you're a young person wanting to make a difference for the environment, check out the NextGen Landcare Online Youth Forum on Tuesday 23 August at 10.30am.

The forum for 12 to 18 year olds is an action-packed event that aims to get youth inspired, connected and empowered to take action for the environment.

Visit the Intrepid Landcare website to register your attendance

The Victorian Government's 2022 Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grants are also now open.

Grants of up to $5,000 are available to Victorian childcare centres, kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, Scouts, Guides, youth groups, and Junior Landcare groups for biodiversity projects.

Applications close Tuesday 9 August 2022. For more information visit the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning website.
