Meeting Procedure Local Law 2014 - Local Law No. 1 of 2014
- To provide fair and consistent procedures that must be followed by Councillors;
- the timing of announcements of Council meetings
- The Conduct of Council meetings
- The correct procedure for elections, motions and voting
- A range of other procedures that Council must routinely follow to make decisions that are considered, fair and valid.

Council has appointed a Hearings Committee to hear and report to Council on submissions received under the Local Government Act 1989 and on objections and submissions received in relation to planning permit applications and strategic planning matters under the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
The Hearings Committee has also been delegated to hear presentations and public questions received by Council in accordance with clause 65(3) of the Mitchell Shire Council Meeting Procedure Local Law 2014.
Time is allocated for public questions at each Hearings Committee meeting. Questions must be submitted on the Question Time Request form and received by Council before 10.00am on the day of the scheduled Hearings Committee meeting.

Meetings of the Committee are scheduled for the second Monday of the month but if there are no submissions to be heard at a particular meeting of the Committee, the meeting will be cancelled.
