Whilst Mitchell Shire Council delivers around 100 different services, we also play a key role in advocating on behalf of our communities to the state and federal governments as well as other stakeholders.
Mitchell has recently developed an Advocacy Framework that aims to influence key decisions on policy, services or funding.
As one of Melbourne's eight Interface municipalities, Council faces a unique challenge in facing rapid growth, whilst balancing the needs of rural and urban areas.
The Advocacy Framework covers five priorities namely:
- Planning for Growth
- Economic Development
- Transport Connectivity
- Community Infrastructure
- Emergency Management
In developing the framework Council has affirmed its commitment to advocate for critical infrastructure that will support the ongoing development of healthy and vibrant communities right across the Shire.
