Check out the Seymour Skatepark Festival this weekend

Seymour Skatepark will host a skate festival as part of a Victorian Skate Park League competition on Saturday 13 October with giveaways, live DJs, food trucks, bubble soccer, a bucking bull and pop up skate stores. Find out more.

Lights, camera, action for Wandong and Kilmore Sports

Netball and tennis in Wandong and Australian Rules Football in Kilmore will receive a boost with $871,005 funding announced today through Sport and Recreation Victoria, Mitchell Shire Council and AFL Victoria.

Council's compost bin and worm farm subsidy is available now

Throughout the month of October, Council is offering a half price subsidy for compost bins and worm farms purchased from selected retailers (capped at $30 per compost bin or $50 per worm farm). Terms and conditions apply.

Council fire restrictions are now in place

Council fire restrictions begin Monday 1 October. This means that permits are now required in all areas to burn a windrow, stump, log or vegetation with a diameter greater that 75mm. Once the CFA Fire Danger Period is declared, permits will not be issued.

Bushfire anniversary grants closing soon

The Victorian Government is calling for applications for the 2009 Victorian Bushfire Commemoration and Community Development Grants. Local groups can apply through Mitchell Shire Council. Council will then recommend applications for funding to Local Government Victoria for consideration. Applications close 8 October.

September Council meeting tonight

The September Council meeting will be held at 7pm tonight (Monday 17 September) at the Council Chamber, Broadford Civic Centre. Agenda now available.

Aussie Bird Count 22-28 October

Put your bird knowledge to the test by taking part in this year’s Aussie Backyard Bird Count from 22-28 October, a national campaign which aims to count more than 2 million birds in seven days. It's easy to take part. Simply spend 20 minutes outside, record what birds you see and submit the data to the Aussie Backyard Bird Count app or website.

Seniors' concert tickets on sale now

Toe-tapping tunes of yesteryear will be on the bill when The Substitutes rock in to town next month. The Melbourne-based quartet will bring their 60s and 70s British tunes to the stage as part of Council’s annual Seniors’ Concert on Thursday 11 October.

Kilmore pool roof special Council meeting

We're excited to announce that tender applications for the Kilmore pool repairs have been assessed and will be presented to Council for consideration at a special Council meeting on Monday night (1 October). Please note, as this relates to confidential tender documents, this meeting will be closed to members of the public. We hope to have a public update available soon.

Planning Amendment C124 – Planning Permit Application PLP203/17

Mitchell Shire Council has prepared an amendment that proposes to rezone land at 80 Clarke Street and 109 Northern Highway, Kilmore from Industrial 1 Zone to Commerical 1 Zone. The associated permit is for buildings and works for the construction of a supermarket, medical centre and retail premises, use of the land for sale of packaged liquor, alteration of access to Road Zone Category 1 and removal of native vegetation.

Council at the forefront of discussions about better services and infrastructure

Mitchell Shire Council has again put the community’s service and infrastructure needs on the agenda at a State level, meeting at Parliament House with members of the Opposition to discuss a range of issues including transport, health, education and jobs.

Southern Mitchell aquatic centre update

There's been some community discussion about building an aquatic facility for Wallan and Beveridge. This is a project Council supports and is something that we have already started planning for. Take a look at our next steps including a $150,000 feasibility study thanks to funding from the Victorian Government.
