Veteran rockers set to roll in to town for annual Seniors’ Concert

Friday 14 September, 2018

Toe-tapping tunes of yesteryear will be on the bill when The Substitutes rock in to town next month.

The Melbourne-based quartet will bring their 60s and 70s British tunes to the stage as part of Mitchell Shire Council’s annual Seniors’ Concert on Thursday 11 October from 2-4pm.

The popular concert is part of the Victorian Seniors Festival, a state-wide initiative of more than 2000 free or low-cost events for seniors each October.

Tickets for the concert at Broadford Hall (18 Murchison Street) are $10, including light refreshments, and are now on sale.

Mitchell Shire Mayor Rhonda Sanderson said the annual Seniors’ Concert was one of the highlights on Council’s calendar.

“The annual Seniors' Concert is a fantastic way to bring people together for some fun and entertainment and provide an opportunity to socialise and interact with others, which is so important,” Cr Sanderson said.

“The health and wellbeing of our senior community is vital. Events such as the Seniors’ Concert are fantastic ways to help our often-isolated seniors feel included and link them up with other support services and information.

"The concert is such a hit and it's something that I know many of our older residents look forward to each year."

Bookings for the Seniors’ Concert are essential and can be made HERE. If you need help booking tickets, please visit one of our Customer and Library Service Centres in Broadford, Kilmore, Seymour or Wallan.

A community bus is also available on request by contacting Council’s Community Development team on 5734 6200 or emailing community.development@mitchellshire.vic.gov.au.
