There are just a few days left to have your say on the draft plans for the Wallan Town Heart project, with submissions closing this Thursday (5 October).
The Wallan Town Heart Project aims to revitalise the centre of Wallan into a more connected and vibrant hub.
The project includes seven key steps to achieve this, including a new outdoor plaza, signalised pedestrian crossing linking the shops to Hadfield Park, a new event space and car parking outside the Free Library Hall, and new car parks near the Community Bank ® Adventure Playground.
Council has promoted the project extensively with onsite signage, a letterbox drop, online, through local media, by meeting with traders and by holding a Community Workshop to encourage people to view the plans and provide feedback.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Rhonda Sanderson thanked those members of the community who had already shared their thoughts, especially those who attended the recent Community Workshop.
“It was fantastic to be at the recent Community Workshop and hear some of the passionate thoughts of our residents and business owners – especially some of their ideas on how the new outdoor plaza area could be used,” Cr Sanderson said.
“I’d like to sincerely thank everyone who has contributed so far, and I’d strongly encourage anyone who hasn’t viewed the plans yet to jump online or head to the library, take a look and make a submission if they’d like.”
The Wallan Town Heart Project is funded by Mitchell Shire Council ($400,000), Regional Development Victoria ($1.5 million) and the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund ($2.19 million)
