Mitchell Shire Council has a full schedule of activities on offer these school holidays that won’t hurt the hip pocket.
There are dozens of free or low-cost activities at Council’s libraries, leisure centres and youth rooms to keep children and teenagers entertained during the school holidays, which begin on 1 July.
There will be free activities at Council’s Youth Rooms in Broadford (154 High Street) and Wallan (42 Bentinck Street) from 3 to 13 July, including cupcake making and decorating, a movie day, a street style dance class and a spray painting workshop.
There will be plenty of fun at Kilmore Library with the popular robotics workshop on Monday 3 July ($15 including morning tea) and cooking classes on Tuesday 11 July ($10 per person).
Pool inflatables will be back at Kilmore Leisure Centre on Tuesday 4 July and Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre on Thursday 13 July, as well as the five-day Intensive Swim Program ($67.50).
Meanwhile, School Holiday Grab Bags will be for sale for $15 at Council’s Youth Rooms (cash only) or Customer and Library Service Centres.
They include over $100 worth of tickets and vouchers such as a Reading Cinema movie ticket, Challenge Laser Skirmish entry and an OZ Tenpin Bowling ticket.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Rhonda Sanderson said there was something on offer for everyone.
“There is such a great variety of activities on offer these school holidays and the best part is that most of them are free or low cost,” Cr Sanderson said.
“It’s often hard to keep the kids entertained over the break without spending hundreds of dollars. These activities are fun, local and budget-friendly.”
