Summer has officially drawn to a close, and with that, so have Mitchell Shire’s three outdoor pools.
The outdoor pools in Broadford, Seymour and Tallarook closed last week after a successful season with solid attendance numbers from the community.
The pools also once again accommodated school swimming carnivals, as well as the successful Broadford Splash youth event earlier this month and several activities hosted by the Friends of Tallarook Pool.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Rhonda Sanderson thanked the community for supporting the outdoor pools this summer.
“Mitchell Shire’s three outdoor swimming pools are such fantastic community assets and it’s been great to see people enjoying the pools and connecting with their community this summer,” Cr Sanderson said.
“Heading to one of our outdoor pools is always a great way to beat the heat without travelling outside the shire to somewhere like the beach. It’s also much safer than swimming in rivers, creeks and dams, with trained life guards on duty at all times.”
“I would like to thank the community for their attendance this summer, our Mitchell Leisure Service staff who worked hard to keep the pools safe and clean, and the Friends of Tallarook Pool.”
While the outdoor pools may have closed, there are still many great places in the shire to take a dip with heated indoor pools at Kilmore Leisure Centre and Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre, and the Splash Park at the Community Bank ® Adventure Playground in Wallan (open until the end of March).
Both leisure centres feature 25m indoor heated pools for swimming lessons, fitness classes and recreational swimming.
