The Beveridge area will be home to 22,000 people in the coming years, so it’s important Council plans for the future of the Beveridge township.
Council is asking the community for their input as we gather information that will help form the Beveridge Township Development Plan, which will guide future land use and development within the township.
The plan will also ensure integration with surrounding urban neighbourhoods that will be delivered through the Lockerbie North and Beveridge Central Precinct Structure Plans.
Through a survey, Council is also asking the community questions including:
• How would you like to see the Beveridge township develop in the future?
• What do you value about living in the Beveridge township?
• Do you currently use Beveridge Reserve and, if so, what for?
• What are the most important issues within the township?
Mitchell Shire Mayor Rhonda Sanderson said it was an exciting time for Beveridge and a chance for the community to shape the township’s direction.
“The Beveridge township falls within Melbourne’s Urban Growth Boundary and is already within a residential zone, however, it needs a strong planning approach to ensure its future as a great place to live,” Cr Sanderson said.
“That’s why Council is consulting with its residents to develop the Beveridge Township Development Plan.
“Now is your chance to influence this important plan by telling us what matters to you and the community you live in. We want to know what you love about Beveridge now, but also what improvements you’d like to see in the future.”
A draft Beveridge Township Development Plan will be released before being finalised in late 2017.
