A Message from the Mayor.
It is with great pleasure that I invite senior residents of Mitchell Shire to take part in the 35th Victorian Seniors Festival. The Victorian Seniors Festival aims to recognise and celebrate the valuable contribution our older people have made, and continue to make, to our community.
Throughout the month of October, Mitchell Shire Council, in partnership with local community groups, businesses and service providers, will be hosting a range of events and activities that celebrate the diversity of our senior residents and promote healthy ageing.
Council’s Seniors Festival is a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to our senior residents. In this program, you will find details of concerts; information sessions, open days, library activities; and social and physical activities happening throughout the municipality in October.
I encourage you to get involved with friends or family, or even meet new people by participating in a variety of ways to help you connect and contribute within your local communities.
Most of the events and activities are free or low cost – but it’s important that you get in touch with the enquiries or booking numbers to ensure you don’t miss out.
Mitchell Shire Council is committed to promoting healthy and active ageing and making Mitchell Shire an age-friendly community – one that values our older residents and provides opportunity to contribute and participate.
There is something for everyone in this year’s program and I look forward to seeing you in October.
Remember it’s your time to celebrate! So, get out and enjoy the 2017 Seniors Festival in Mitchell Shire.
