senior FITNESS CLASSES in MItchell shire
You might have heard that resistance exercises are important as you get older. But why?
- Exercise can help you perform daily activities more safely and decrease the risk of falls and other injuries,
- It can help reduce the likelihood of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis and sleep disorders,
- It can increase bone mass and density, protecting against osteoporosis,
- It prevents muscle loss which helps maintain independence and
- It can minimise pain associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and lower back problems.
Improve your function, mobility and strength in this low intensity program designed specifically for seniors (45 min).

Conducted in the gym, this circuit style class focuses on strength, flexibility, stability and posture using a variety of gym-based equipment and movements (55 min).

A very low impact class for older aged patrons. Heart Smart focuses on cardiac rehabilitation, mobility and general strength building (45 min).

An energetic workout that will get you moving, increase your heart rate and have you working your entire body (45 min).

A gentle exercise class for seniors that uses the resistance of water and weights to improve everyday function for the older adult (45 min).

Senior citizen clubs
Senior citizens clubs offer a variety of social, leisure and recreational activities to their members. Activities may include:
- playing cards
- line dancing
- occasional day trips
Most clubs meet on a weekly basis and charge a small weekly and/or annual membership fee.
