Kilmore East Bridge Renewal

Bridge works
Kilmore East
Expected Completion:
June 2022

What's happening?

A section of Kilmore East Road will be closed for eight weeks for bridge renewal works starting 19 April.

The bridge is located between the O’Sheas Road and Kilmore East Road intersection and the Dry Creek Road and Nannys Creek Road intersection.

The bridge will be strengthened to operate without a load limit and widened to provide larger traffic lanes and shoulders.

Bridge barriers will also be added and associated works to the bridge surrounds and the road on either end will also be completed.

The $1.1 million project received $400,000 from the Federal Government’s Bridges Renewal Program and $700,000 from Council.

What detours will be in place?

To ensure the bridge upgrade works can be completed safely and in a timely manner, a road closure will be implemented between O’Sheas Road and the Dry Creek Road and Nannys Creek Road intersection for the duration of the works.

Signed detour routes will be established for journeys between Kilmore, Kilmore East, Broadford, Wandong and Tallarook.

During this period, it is expected that some roads will experience an increase in truck traffic accessing Hanson Quarry between 6am and 6pm Monday to Friday.

Changed road conditions

An 80 km/h speed limit will be implemented on Dry Creek Road between Hanson Quarry and Broadford-Kilmore Road as part of the detour to further reduce the impacts of detoured traffic on residents and amenity along Dry Creek Road.

A speed advisory trailer will also be used during the detour period to advise drivers of their speed along this length of road.

Council reminds drivers to adhere to the instructions of traffic management controllers for your safety and the safety of road workers.
