Community Vision: Mitchell 2050
Imagine Mitchell in 2050. What do you love about your community? What do you wish for your community’s future?
These are some of the questions Council asked the community in the first stage of the Mitchell 2050 Project, and there were six key themes that emerged from these discussions:
- Vibrant communities
- Working, learning and exploring
- Travelling and getting around
- Shaping neighbourhoods
- Nature and parks
- Climate Action
The story so far
The Mitchell 2050 Project is about working with our community to create a new 2050 Community Vision, Council Plan, Health and Wellbeing Plan and to inform Council's long-term Financial Plan.
From April to May 2021, thousands of people participated in a range of activities across the Shire and close to 1,500 individuals actively participated in completing the Mitchell 2050 engagement survey.
Stage 1 of the engagement focused on us capturing your values, dreams and aspirations through questions which prompted you to think about you, your family and friends futures.
Let's continue the conversation
We are moving into stage 2 of the project to build on what we heard from you in stage 1. We'll present back on the themes and focus areas that have been developed on the responses you provided.
Importantly, stage 2 is building on what you've already told us. We will identify a shared community vision which will be constructed from your aspirations and dreams for the future while also refining what the key theme areas will be.
From 1 August, there will be a range of consultation activities where we will share with you what has been captured through the initial phase of consultation.
We encourage you to participate in stage 2 and join us at one of the events below.
