Seymour Community Wellbeing Hub

The Seymour Community Wellbeing Hub will give up to 10,000 people access to integrated health and mental health support, together with other vital community services.

What is needed to make this a reality?

Mitchell Shire Council calls on the State Government to invest $9 million, to go with a $14 million investment from the Federal Government for the Seymour Community. This is a total investment of $23 million from State and Federal Governments which will ensure there is 'no wrong door' when accessing support and services in Seymour.

Mitchell Shire Council has committed over $3 million in land and project costs to make this Community Wellbeing Hub a reality.

What is The Seymour Community Wellbeing Hub?

The Seymour Community Wellbeing Hub will give people living in Seymour and the broader region access to local services, with a focus on:

  • adult mental health
  • veterans’ mental health and engagement
  • family violence support
  • employment and education services

Who will benefit and why?

Seymour Community Wellbeing Hub is a place that will transform the lives of families and individuals living in Seymour and across the region. This no-wrong-door model includes the following services:

  • Veterans Support Centre to provide specialised physical and mental health support for both retired from duty and active duty personnel, including suicide prevention programs to form a vital component of the project
  • Integrated family violence support through a Centre Against Sexual Assault (CASA) to address high levels of family violence in the local area
  • Health and Wellbeing Services, including primary health services, community dental health services, and support services
  • Employment and Education Services through library services, work, and community spaces to promote social connection
  • Connection to recreation precinct and growing sports based around Chittick Park and Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre, providing a wide range of positive activities and social supports in the heart of Seymour

Why is this a state election priority?

The Seymour Revitalisation Group established through the State Government's Community Partnership initiative, identified the Seymour Community Wellbeing Hub as a priority project for Seymour. Investment by the Victorian and Federal Governments will enable local partners to break down deeply entrenched intergenerational disadvantage and provide locally accessible support for the Seymour and wider community.

The Hub is a partnership between Mitchell Shire Council, Goulburn Valley Health, Seymour Health, Nexus Primary Health, Goulbourn Options, RSL Seymour, and Seymour College.
