Beveridge Intermodal Freight Terminal
What is needed to make this a reality?
Beveridge Intermodal Freight Terminal is one of two pivotal intermodal logistics terminals for Victoria. Council is seeking support from the State Government to expedite the planning for BIFT and its key enabling infrastructure.
What is the Beveridge Intermodal Freight Terminal?
BIFT will be one of two intermodal terminals in Melbourne which will transform freight and logistics in Victoria. Situated immediately adjacent to both Inland Rail and the Hume Freeway, BIFT is ideally located to unlock the potential of Inland Rail and will support broader industrial and commercial development in Melbourne’s North.
Who will benefit, and why?
BIFT will bring almost 20,000 jobs to Melbourne’s rapidly-growing north, providing a true opportunity for people to live and work locally.
BIFT will also support the burgeoning logistics, commercial, and industrial precincts in Melbourne’s North including in Epping, Merrifield, and the future Cloverton Metropolitan Activity Centre.
Why is it a State Election priority?
Not only will BIFT activate the Inland Rail, it will also bring much needed jobs to communities in surrounding areas, including in Lockerbie, Lockerbie North, Beveridge Central, Beveridge North West, Beveridge North East, and Beveridge South West PSPs.
Certainty will be key to ensuring the success of BIFT. To make this a reality the precinct planning, and delivery of enabling infrastructure including Camerons Lane is required.
