Council funded community grants exist as a source of financial support to incorporated local community groups and are available annually.
The availability of grants is publicised in the local media in March and on this website. Grants are also offered by State and Federal Government programs and Council can assist organisations trying to source grant opportunities.

Annual Community Grants Evening
The Annual Community Grants Evening was held on Tuesday 24 September at Broadford Hall. The Evening was well attended by our local Community Groups. The night was an opportunity for Council to acknowledge the good work our Community Groups do in relation to their grant activities. The night was also a chance for our Community Groups to network with one another and share stories and experiences.
A big thank you to the Thistle Ensemble who provided great entertainment to kick off the night.
Our guest speakers on the night did an excellent job too. Paddy Devine, President, RSL Broadford Sub Branch spoke to our Groups on how the RSL has been able to build on the knowledge they have learned each year running the ANZAC Day service, how they have developed partnerships along the way, and how it all comes together into one of the Shire's biggest ANZAC Day events. It is always good to hear how our Community Groups are able to use Council funding to continue to develop their activities to better support the community.
Julie Webber, Manager Fundraising and Communication, Children First Foundation provided the highlight of the night. Julie's knowledge into seeking donations and managing the relationships with funding bodies was insightful and I'm sure our Community Groups were able to pick up a few tips for the next time they go to seek funding.
Thanks go to both Julie and Paddy for taking the time to speak at our Evening.

Acquittal Process - Evaluation and Expenditure Report
Community Groups are required to acquit their Mitchell Community Grant by 14 June 2014.
To do this, Community Groups will need to complete an Evaluation and Expenditure Report. There are two Report templates. One Report template is specifically to acquit Asset/ Small Equipment category grants. The other Report template is to acquit grants in the Artistic or Cultural Activities category, the Community Celebrations category and the Social Development and Wellbeing category. A separate Report must be submitted for each grant received.

Council is currently designing Information Sheets to support Community Groups better understand the Mitchell Community Grants Program and assist in seeking other sources of funding. So keep an eye on this area as we upload more Information Sheets over time.
