Did you know that Mitchell Shire Council hosts Citizenship Ceremonies every second month?
Citizenship Ceremonies offer new citizens, their families and friends an opportunity to affirm their loyalty to Australia and its people. The Mayor administers the pledge and reads a message from the Minister for Immigration.
Every new citizen is presented with a certificate and an Australian native plant to keep. Following the formal proceedings, a range of light Australian refreshments are served while guests mingle and enjoy live music.
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship is responsible for processing citizenship applications.
For information about your citizenship application, eligibility or other citizenship matters contact the Citizenship Information Line on 13 18 80 or visit the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship's website.
Citizenship Ceremonies are the final part in becoming an Australian Citizen. Council conducts Citizenship Ceremonies each year for members of the community wanting to become Australian citizens.
Applicants are invited to make the pledge at a Citizenship Ceremony after successfully completing their application through the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.
