This fire season it is crucial that Mitchell Shire’s residents be aware of fire prevention methods, plans and works going on throughout the municipality. Council’s Fire Prevention News page is one way that Council aims to engage the public to bring awareness to the fire prevention activities and events happening shirewide.
This page will appear fortnightly, detailing Council’s and other contributing fire prevention agencies’ works from now into the fire season. Prevention works have been ongoing. Through the Fire Prevention News the community will be informed of upcoming bushfire prevention events, education sessions and community meetings that focus on the safety of our residents during the fire season.
The continuing drought conditions and the warmer temperatures make this year’s fire potential higher than normal. In the interest of public safety, Mayor Melbourne urges all residents to establish their bushfire strategies, and prepare their homes and properties.
