| The International Women’s Day Recognition Awards (IWDRA) are presented annually to women who have excelled or given freely of their time for the benefit of others and who have made outstanding contributions to the community across the eight categories outlined below. Women who have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the community over a number of years shall be eligible.
One winner will be selected in each category on the basis of outstanding service in the specified field. The overall winner of the perpetual trophy - IWD Woman of the Year - Mitchell Shire 2009 will be decided by the selection committee from the individual category winners.
Criteria to be assessed on a combination of the following: • Personal, educational/academic and professional achievements • Contribution to relevant field • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, innovation and creativity • Personal interests and community involvement • Voluntary involvement
The Committee will administer the quest and foster nominations. In the absence of any nominations from members of the public, the Selection Panel may make its own nominations based on local knowledge and experience. Individuals and organisations may submit nominations. Nominees, nominators and sponsors will be invited to attend the IWD Morning Tea on Thursday 7 May 2009 in Wallan where the Award recipients from each category will be announced. Details of the Morning Tea will be forwarded upon receipt of the nominations.
