The installation or alteration of septic tanks for premises in non-sewered areas requires a permit.

Site inspections pertaining to the installation of septic tanks are also required.

It is important to note that a Certificate of Occupancy cannot be issued until a permit to use a septic tank has been issued.

Construction of any dwellings and/or any other type of facility or building in a non-sewered area will also require consultation with Council's Planning Unit as the issuing of a permit to use a septic tank will need to be included in the planning permit process.

For more details, contact the Environmental Health Unit or the Planning Unit on 5734 6200.
