The Community Services Unit of the Mitchell Shire Council is dedicated to delivering high quality services to the following ares:

Kindergarten Service, The Mitchell Family Day Care Scheme, Maternal and Child Health Service, Community Development and Youth Services.

Aged Care Services is now conducted by Mitchell Community Health Services.

Brief outline of the role of each division within Community Services

Kindergarten Service - manages eight kindergartens within the Mitchell Shire at Pyalong, Broadford, Kilmore, Wellington Street Wallan, Bentinck Street Wallan, Wandong, Flowerdale, Seymour East Kindergarten Seymour.

The Mitchell Family Day Care Scheme - provides a quality home based child care service for children from birth to 12 years of age whose parents are working, seeking employment, studying, require respite care, or if there is an emergency.

Maternal and Child Health Service - is offered from seven centres across the Shire - Seymour, Puckapunyal, Wandong, Wallan, Broadford, Kilmore and Pyalong. The goal of the M&CHS is to promote healthy outcomes for children 0-6 years and their families.

Community Development - works to decrease social isolation and increase community connectedness. It involves coordinating community activities and events that will build links between all sectors and individuals within the community.

Youth Services - Council’s Youth Development program focuses on involving young people aged between 12-25 years in community life.
