Animals, whether companion pets, working animals or stock, play an important role in people's lives here in the Mitchell Shire.
The role of Council is to assist residents in managing their animals in a way that ensures that any nuisance, which could arise through the keeping of animals, is reduced or eliminated.
Local Laws Officers enforce provisions of the Domestic (Feral & Nuisance) Animals Act and the Impounding of Livestock Act.
Officers also assist in the enforcement of provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
The rules outlined in these Acts cover all types of pets, animals and birds.
It is also the responsibility of Council to manage the dog and cat registration scheme which, among other things, ensures your dog or cat is returned to you should it become lost.
Details about registering your animals can be accessed via the link below.
